Kate Nash delivers her refreshing brand of honest every day tales, with staccato simplicity. Merry Happy, the fifth release from her highly successfully and rightfully acclaimed debut album, Made Of Bricks, is possibly the most charming song of the year. After the Motown stomp and full-on sound of Pumpkin Soup, it's back to a stripped down voice, piano and drum combo.
Exquisitely, she showcases her unique talent for beautifully observed and poetically delivered tales of ordinary teenage (and universal) lives, of unrequited love, 'dancing at disco’s, eating cheese on toast', and watching the sunset alone, with a sparse, rhythmic delight.
Nash has helped Harrow become the newest musical fulcrum of the capital (Scouting For Girls, Forget The Down), and the young feisty talent has proved every bit worthy of her many plaudits.
